Rebirth of Hong Kong’s Whale

Following the re-opening of SWIMS, Hong Kong’s famous whale is also scheduled to undergo its first restoration initiative in more than 20 years.

Sadly, the iconic skeleton’s condition has severely deteriorated after super typhoon Mangkhut. Through the ‘Restoring Hong Kong’s Whale’ campaign, SWIMS aims to raise funds for the full-scale 3D printing of the whale skeleton. Apart from reviving this symbol of local marine conservation, donations will also go towards supporting SWIM’s educational and outreach activities. Importantly, donors will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite name for this baby whale by which it will be remembered even generations from now. Donors who contribute HK$8,000 or above will receive a miniature replica of the skeleton as a token of SWIMS gratitude for their support.
